No German knowledge needed. MALIROSA’s A1 course takes you from the first word to your first certificate — online, structured, and built for Sri Lankan learners.
At CEFR A1, you develop the core skills to introduce yourself, navigate basic everyday situations, and begin understanding spoken and written German. The A1 course covers:
Learn to say hello, introduce yourself, ask and answer questions about name, age, nationality, and occupation.
Count in German, tell the time, use dates and days of the week in real conversations.
Build basic sentences using correct word order and essential verb conjugations in present tense.
Learn words for food, family, home, colours, weather and everyday objects — the vocabulary you will actually use.
Read simple texts such as short messages, postcards and forms. Write simple sentences and fill in personal details.
Understand slow, clear spoken German and practice responding in guided conversation from lesson one.
A1 is the right starting point if you have never studied German before or know fewer than 50 words. Most Sri Lankan candidates who come to MALIROSA start at A1. You do not need any prior knowledge of German or any other European language.
MALIROSA’s A1 course prepares you for the Goethe-Zertifikat A1 and ÖSD A1 — both are accepted by the German Embassy in Colombo. The A1 certificate is required for the Au Pair visa application and provides the foundation for continuing to A2.
After completing A1, the natural next step is the A2 course, which prepares you for everyday communication. From A2 you move to B1 — the level required for most Ausbildung contracts.
