B1 is the key milestone for Sri Lankan candidates heading to Germany. It is the language level required by most Ausbildung training contracts, the Ausbildung visa, and the Chancenkarte. MALIROSA’s B1 course is structured to get you there.
At CEFR B1, you can handle most everyday situations that arise while travelling or living in Germany. You can describe experiences and events, explain plans and aspirations, and give brief reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
Communicate confidently about work, travel, family, health and current events in familiar contexts.
Understand instructions, communicate with colleagues and navigate common workplace situations in German.
Read and understand the main points of texts on subjects you encounter regularly in work, study and leisure.
Write simple connected texts on topics that are familiar or of personal interest, including cover letters and emails.
Understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters encountered in work, school and leisure.
Full preparation for the Goethe-Zertifikat B1, ÖSD B1 and telc B1 exams — all accepted by German employers and embassies.
Candidates who enter at A2 level typically reach B1 in 3–4 months at 10–15 hours of study per week. If you are starting from A1, allow approximately 8–12 months total to reach B1 with consistent effort.
B1 is the minimum language level required by most Ausbildung training contracts in Germany, including the official Ausbildung visa. It is also the language threshold for the Skilled Worker Visa and earns language points on the Chancenkarte (Opportunity Card).
After B1, candidates who want to pursue university admission or healthcare Ausbildung should continue to B2.
